Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions customers ask most. Each links to the full article.

Getting started

What is QuoteMate? An AI-powered quoting and invoicing app for Australian tradies. Describe a job, get a priced materials list, send a branded quote, and get paid. → What is QuoteMate?

What trades does it support? All trades — 24+ including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, building, and cleaning. Templates cover common jobs; you can describe any custom job in plain English. → Trades supported

What devices does it run on? iPhone, iPad, Android, and web. One subscription covers all of them and your data syncs. → Supported platforms

Can I use it offline? Yes. Create and edit quotes with no signal; everything syncs when you're back online. → Supported platforms

Quoting

How does the AI quoting work? Describe the job in plain English — like "Build a 4x3 metre hardwood deck with stairs" — and QuoteMate suggests the materials and quantities with live pricing. You edit anything. → AI material suggestions

Where does the pricing come from? Live prices from major Australian suppliers, but your own saved trade rates and supplier favourites come first. You can import a supplier price list from a photo or PDF. → Live supplier pricing

Does it calculate GST? Yes — 10% GST is calculated and shown automatically on every quote and invoice. → GST, labour, markup, and travel

Pricing and billing

Is there a free plan? Yes — Free forever, no credit card, with unlimited quotes and invoices. Customers pay online via Square; QuoteMate's 1.7% platform fee comes out of your payout, not the customer's bill. → Plans and pricing

How much is Pro? $49/month or $328/year (about $27.33/month). → Plans and pricing

How does the free trial work? A 14-day Pro trial that starts when you create your first quote. No card needed. → Free trial

Can I cancel anytime? Yes. Cancel from the app store (or the Stripe portal on web). You keep Pro until the end of your billing period, then move to Free. → Managing your subscription

Getting paid

How do I take payments? Square Tap to Pay on-site (tap a card or phone on your device), or an online payment link on the invoice. Also bank transfer, PayID, BPAY, PayPal, card, cash, and cheque. → Getting paid with Square

What are the fees? Square's processing fee plus a QuoteMate platform fee. On Pro that's 1.0% online / 1.5% in-person (vs 1.7% on Free). Both come out of your payout; card surcharges aren't allowed in Australia from 1 October 2026, so the customer always pays the quoted amount. → Getting paid with Square

How do I refund a customer? Through your Square account — there's no refund button in the app. → Troubleshooting

Jobs and integrations

Can I manage jobs after the quote is sent? Yes — a 9-stage pipeline with scheduling, on-site photos with annotation, checklists, and automated follow-ups. → Jobs and the pipeline

Does it integrate with Xero? Yes — push invoices in one tap, auto-create contacts, bulk sync, and export Xero-compatible CSVs. → Xero integration

Does it work with Reece? Yes — a live Reece maX integration prices plumbing quotes at your trade rate, and you can order to Reece from inside an accepted quote. → Reece maX integration

Account and support

Is my data secure? Yes — stored on Google Firebase with encryption in transit and at rest, compliant with the Australian Privacy Act. QuoteMate doesn't sell your data. → Data security and privacy

How do I contact support? Email [email protected] or use the website contact form. Pro gets priority support. → Troubleshooting

Still stuck?

Email [email protected] with what you were trying to do and a screenshot if you have one. You get a reply from the person who builds the app.
