Tell Mate something once about how you price, and it can follow it on every quote after that. Your rates, your rules, and the way you work are kept in one place you can read and edit.
Telling Mate in chat
Say it the way you'd say it to an apprentice: "Add a $90 call-out fee to every job", "I always allow 10% extra on materials for waste", "End of lease clean is $380 a job including materials."
Mate replies with a card. A Remember how you quote card holds a rule; a Save a rate card holds a price for a type of work. Tap Remember it or Save rate to keep it, or Dismiss if it misread you. Nothing is saved until you tap.
On your very first job, while nothing is saved yet, Mate asks one question about how you quote: whether you set a rate for the job or work it up from materials and labour. That answer is saved the same way.
Seeing what's saved
Go to Settings → Trade & Pricing and scroll to the How you quote card. It lists every rule and every rate on your rate card, with the rate's basis (per job, per hour, per square metre and so on), whether it includes GST, and whether materials are included.
Changing it
- Tap the ⊗ beside a rule or a rate to remove it. It's gone straight away and won't apply to the next quote.
- Tap Add a rule to type a rule by hand, one plain sentence.
- Tap Add a rate to add a price for a type of work, with the unit, GST basis and whether materials are included.
Changes here save immediately, outside the screen's Save button, because a wrong rule left in place would be applied to the very next quote.
What it's used for
Every quote Mate drafts follows the saved rules, and it reaches for a saved rate whenever the job matches one. Supplier preferences and the hardware stores you've chosen live on the same screen and work the same way: Mate prices from your suppliers first.
